Any special instructions for finding or accessing your delivery address?
Is the house number easily visible? Do you have a buzzer/entry code?

We’ll always knock first to check that you’re home; however, insulated coolers are mandatory to receive meal deliveries and must be placed outside the home in a safe, easily accessible location. Placement near the front door in a visible, sheltered location is best. For clients inside a multi-unit apartment building, a box labelled “Meals on Wheels” placed outside your unit’s door in an interior hallway is acceptable.

Do you have a cooler?

Meal Options

Our monthly menus are planned in advance by our Lead Cooks and posted here on our website. Physical menus are also printed and delivered by drivers towards the end of each month.

All meals are nutritionally balanced and include a healthy portion of protein; two sides from a variety of starches and vegetables; soup and fresh bun; and dessert.

Hot and ready-to-eat meals are delivered (one per) every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10:30am to 12:30pm, including all statutory holidays — yes, even Christmas!

Optional frozen meals are delivered (one per delivery day) along with fresh meals for reheating on Tuesday, Thursday and the weekend, respectively.

You must select hot meal delivery to also optionally receive frozen meals.

Subsidy Application
Clients may be eligible for a 50% to 100% subsidy of meal costs. As this program is limited by our organization receiving sufficient funding, coverage is only made available based on severe financial hardship, strict qualifying criteria, and annual review of eligibility, including verification of income using CRA documentation.

Emergency Contacts

Client well-being is important to us. Being able to verify with a wellness check during meal delivery, is an important aspect of the service we provide. If there is concern for your well-being and our volunteers are unable to reach you, they will reach out to your designated Emergency Contact. Your EC(s) should live near you and be available to answer their phone should we need to reach them on your behalf. Please ensure EC(s) are aware and approve of their role.

Emergency Contact #1 (required)

Emergency Contact #2 (optional)

Terms of Service

Please read carefully.

You agree to provide minimum 7 days notice for any pause, cancellation or change to your meal service including vacations, scheduled medical absences, etc. Insufficient notice will result in invoicing for missed meals and unnecessary food wastage, except in the case of true medical emergencies. The maximum length for an account to be paused or placed on hold is 30 days. After this time, your account will be considered closed and you may re-apply to join at a later date.

You agree to place an insulated cooler outside by 10am on delivery days, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Coolers should be placed outside the home in a safe and sheltered, visible and easily accessible location. If you live inside a multi-unit building with an interior hallway, you may use any clean container, labelled “Meals on Wheels.” Meals will not be delivered if no cooler is present, but will still be billed for, except in emergency situations. We strongly suggest placing ice packs inside coolers during warmer weather.

Dogs must be kept inside the home or in a separate fenced area on delivery days. Volunteers will NOT deliver meals if a dog is outside in the same area as access the cooler or if safety is a concern for ANY reason.

Our Treasurer/Bookkeeper will email you separately regarding invoicing and payment. Please feel free to communicate directly with this volunteer anytime regarding billing or payments.

If our delivery driver calls and has to leave a message, please call the driver back directly as soon as possible to communicate with them regarding meal delivery or other concerns.

Sooke Meals on Wheels has zero tolerance for disrespectful, harassing, unsafe or abusive behaviour towards our volunteers. Observed or reported incidences of mistreatment will result in an immediate termination of the service agreement at minimum and may lead to the incidence being reported to police.
